Europe´s Creative Regions and Cities

In the context of the European Year of Creativity and Innovation 2009, the Committee of the Regions and the European Commission are jointly organising a two-day forum, on 20 and 21 April 2009. The Forum has two broad aims: First, to create a platform for exchanging best practices among those regions, cities and experts who have expertise in promoting creative industries and innovative approaches in the areas of Arts and Culture; Science, Research and Innovation; Media, Information and Communication Technologies; Urban Development and Urban Creativity; and Social Innovations. Second, to showcase, with the help of the CoR members, 100 young creative talents from all over Europe who have helped the economic development of a region/city. Applications deadline is January 31, 2009! For more information click here.

We have just launched two unique pan-European research projects: EuRRope and EMGC.

The main objective of EuRRope is to examine the evolving role of regional and local representations to the European Union and outline their future development. The research is administered by our Brussels´ office and started at the beginning of December 2008. Its findings will be presented at a conference and workshopes held in Brussels in February/March 2009.

EMGC (European Monitor of Government Communications) monitors the level of communication of public service authorities with public and media. We have broadened the scope of this research to all EU member states which makes EMGC a unique project not only in European context.

We will update the Watchdog webpages with information about both research projects, you will also find here their main findings.
